The Mill Creek Home and School Executive Board has launched a weekly, afterschool Acts of Kindness Class. Twenty-eight Mill Creek students participate in projects to help our community. At their first meeting, the students made bracelets for an organization called “Beat It with Beads”. The bracelets they made are for cancer patients and will be distributed at Fox Chase Hospital, Abington Hospital, and through the American Cancer Society. At the following meeting, the students filled snack bags for the Bucks County Housing Group Food Pantry in Doylestown and made and decorated placemats for Meals on Wheels.
The class will continue throughout the month of February and early March and will include activities to help Neshaminy Manor in Warminster, Thomas Mifflin Elementary in Philadelphia, and a local homeless shelter for kids. The class' mission is to impress upon participants the importance of being kind to others and to oneself, and that any impact can be of great value. Students are learning about several local causes and what they can do to support these organizations.
