This
past weekend, Tamanend was well-represented at the 2017 BCMEA County
Music Festival. Students earned their spot in the festival by competing
against other talented students from all over Bucks
County. Congratulations to Jonathan N, Carolina S, Yvonne X,
Audrey J, Nola B, Anna D, Leah M, Cadence
M, Erin S, Jonah S, Emma B, Emily R, Aritro
B, & Alex Z for your hard work and outstanding performance!
Here are three community service announcements: It’s almost time for Tamanend’s Spring Blood Drive. Although you’re not old enough to donate blood, we could still use your help. If you’d like to make phone calls to try and recruit donors, we’ll be having a Call Night on Wednesday, March 29 from 5-6:15 pm.
Secondly, the Barclay Spring Fair is around the corner! This is a volunteer opportunity for anyone who would like to donate a few hours to help out. The fair is being held on Saturday, April 29 from 11 am until 2 pm.
Lastly, there are multiple events coming up in April at the Churchville Nature Center, plus a camp counselor position for this summer. If you are interested in ANY of these events, please see Mrs. Higgins in room 237! Thanks.
Good morning, Tamanend! And happy first day of Spring! Here is what is happening this week… Today during Resource, the Journey Team will have their Honor Roll Assembly in the Auditorium. And after school there is a spring track interest meeting.
Tuesday we will have Tiger’s Eye immediately after 3rd period.
On Wednesday during Resource, the Freshman team will gather in the Auditorium for 9th Grade Assessment. Also Wednesday night there is a Freshman Dance planning meeting for the parents of all 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. It takes all of our parents to plan for the Freshman Dance. That meeting will be in the cafeteria starting at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, we will celebrate all December, January and February Boomerang nominees. That celebration will be in the Library during Resource. I repeat… our Boomerang Celebration will be on Thursday during Resource in the Library.
On Friday, Relay for Life captains will meet in the Auditorium during Resource.
Now that spring has officially arrived, I have a safety reminder… Students you are not permitted to leave campus by cutting through the woods and car dealership. No students should ever leave Tamanend and cross 611. And finally, once you leave Tamanend’s campus, students, you are not permitted back on the campus unless returned by a parent or guardian.
Also, we have not yet had a Fire Drill in March… remember to always dress appropriately for the weather including shoe choice.
Congratulations to all of our musicians who participated in the BCMEA Music Festival this past weekend.
If you read the Tamanend Connections newsletter on Friday, you know that congratulations are in -order. First, two of our C-SPAN groups were awarded honorable mention. Each group will receive $250 and their video will air on C-SPAN. Because of their success, C-SPAN will be coming to Tamanend later this year along with their news bus. We congratulate all of our C-SPAN Student Cam participants for your research, creativity, and collaboration. Special congratulations to Luke, Srikar, Emma, Andrew, and Akaash!
Please join me in congratulating Alex W. for winning the K-8 Pennsylvania Championship in Chess. He will go on to play in the Barber Champion of Champions competition by invitation as Pennsylvania’s representative.
Finally, congratulations to the over 50 Freshmen who participated in L2U at CB South on Saturday. It looked like you had fun while meeting other student leaders from Unami and South. Way to stretch yourselves and get involved at South already… Well done!
